This David Lynchian scene depicts a horse standing in a brightly colored kitchen, gaining knowledge that changes its consciousness.

A bay mare, who has taken a bite of a bright red apple, seems to be startled at the realization of who she is and where she is (should she even be standing here?). Behind her a blood moon ominously illuminates the room, while ivy creeps in from the outside.

Two white Wonderland rabbits invite you down the rabbit hole of time, coming up through the tile, shifting it effortlessly like fabric. Both standing on the same square, they are each just slightly out of sync with one another. This curious fact is reflected again in the identical clocks off the right. Both are set to the same time, but their second hands are already out of sync.

Inspired by Alice in Wonderland, The Giver (by Lois Lowry), “Untitled" (Perfect Lovers) by Félix González-Torres, and Einstein’s theory of relativity, this bright, bold piece challenges the viewer to make new and unusual connections between time, love, and consciousness. I could connect these dots more for you. But I would rather you read and research these works for yourself, and perhaps you, too, will be startled at the realization of who you are and where you are–and if you should even be standing there.
